Fun things to do in Pierce County:
Northwest Trek: Part of Metro Parks Tacoma, Northwest Trek is a 725 acre wildlife park showcasing the region's native wildlife. Located on the road to Mt Rainier, Northwest Trek is home to Bison, Moose, Elk, Whitetail and Blacktail deer, Black bears, Grizzly bears, Cougars and many many more animals. If you are an animal lover or just enjoy the outdoors, it's a great place to spend a day this Summer.
The park consists of a large group of self directed exhibits accessed along paved walking trails and a guided tram ride through the free range portion of the park.
The park is fully ADA accessible and offers wide paved trails to the self directed exhibits. Parking is free while visiting the park.
Spring is a great time to visit the park to see the new baby animals take their first steps! Expect to see quite a few babies on the tram ride if you visit in the Spring or early Summer.
Saturday June 5th is the annual Volksmarch. Visitors who choose to participate in the Summer Volksmarch receive free admission and 1/2 price tram tokens. Get there early if you can, registration begins at 8 am and runs until 1 pm.
